The Tanuki Trailwalker team proudly announces the next fantastic fundraising events:Three nice workshops: Yoga for Scientists, Introduction to Theatre Acting and Basics of Creative Photography. These workshops are meant for anybody that wants to learn something and support Tanuki Trailwalker at the same time. Here are the details:

Yoga for Scientists by Joyce:

Date: Sunday 30. March 2008
Time: 18:00-20:00 (2hours)
Place: gym of Wako-shi, Saitama map
Language: English
Participation fee: 3000 Yen
Description:
Are you sitting in front of the computer “all day” and have back pain? headache? Your neck is stiff? Your eyes are tired? I think I know what you need… In the Yoga for Scientists workshop, through a set of yoga poses, we will try to compensate for the consequences of working in front of the computer. We will as well explore our body and become aware of bad postures that can be avoided.
The deadline is approaching and you are feeling stressed? In this workshop we will also learn some breathing techniques that can help us deal with demanding situations.
What is actually Science? Is scientific research based on sharing knowledge and doing good to the world? Or is it just pure competition? Is the scientific research system efficient? How is your research contributing to the world? In this workshop, we will look at the world of science from the eyes of the yoga philosophy. Give yourself the freedom to explore your world from a new point of view.
No previous yoga experience is required for this workshop. Non-scientists can of course participate as well! Ideas, discussions, personal experiences are welcome!
Come in comfortable (sport) clothes and try not to eat 2-3 hours before the workshop.

Introduction to Theatre Acting by Elena:

Date: Sunday 6. April 2008
Time: 17:00-20:00 (3 hours)
Place: Naka-meguro residence of Martin and Joyce map
Language: English
Participation fee: 3000 Yen
Description:
The workshop will explore some basic principles of theatre: connection body-breathing-mind, connection with the other actors and connection with spectators. The actor has to be sensitive, alert and generous; a bit crazy, free minded and creative. Through some easy and funny games/exercises you can start to be aware of your expression capability. If you have a short story (one image, two sentences, a scene of a dream...) in your mind, take it to the workshop, and we will try to give life to it.

Basics of Creative Photography by Martin:

Date: Sunday 13. April 2008
Time: 15:00-19:00 (4 hours)
Place: Naka-meguro residence of Martin and Joyce map
Language: English
Participation fee: 3000 Yen
Description:
Modern cameras offer immense possibilities of exploring the creative part of oneself. In spite of all these possibilities, beginner photographers are often drowned in technical details and many settings that the cameras provide. The goal of this workshop is to explore and to explain different picture shooting modes and settings and other creative options. You will learn how to use the automated programs but mainly how to creatively set an exposure by the means of aperture and time. We will primarily consider digital photography but of course the film won’t be forgotten. The workshop will be divided into 4 parts:
- discussing the common problems of beginner photographers (issues raised by the workshop participants)
- power point presentation about various aspects of photography and camera settings
- photo shoot outdoors (if weather permits)
- discussing the photo shooting experience and link to the problems discussed at the beginning
Please, bring some of your favourite images: we can discuss them shortly. And of course don’t forget your tool, the camera.
Although this workshop is meant for beginners, advanced users are also welcome. Out fruitful discussions will for sure interest everyone.

You can join a single workshop as well as all three. The participation fees are progressive as follows:
1 workshop 3000 Yen
2 workshops 5000 Yen
All 3 workshops 6500 Yen
The workshop fees will be collected at the locations of workshops. With your participation in any of these workshops you will support the Tanuki Trailwalker team. All collected funds will be donated to Oxfam Trailwalker 2008. You can find the details about how collected donations are used here.
